Just returned back from the X Factor Studios, having dressed Stacey Solomon, the only remaining female contestant, in £100,000 of diamonds from the Rent Your Rocks collection. Stacey wore a full diamond cuff, with 36 carats of diamonds (new to our collection and not on the site yet), the Red Carpet Diamond Chandelier Earrings, the Circus Ring.
Rent Your Rocks have been asked to go back and dress Susan Boyle next week, and work on another of Simon Cowell’s productions to be aired here in the UK and over in the US. GREAT result for us, to be working on such a high profile show. Cheryl Cole, Stacey Soloman, the styling team and the crew all loved our business, and Louis Walsh topped the evening off telling Stacey she “looked more like a diva than ever before” in her dress and her diamonds. Go Stacey!!

Pretty exciting stuff happening here at RYR – the X Factor stylist team have been in touch with us, we’re heading down to the studios tomorrow to meet them with our pieces to dress Stacey – the only remaining girl in this amazing competition that has gripped the UK. RYR is going to help Stacey completely shine on the night and WOW the judges.

Some of you may remember reading a few months ago about us in The Times 2?
RYR was chosen, from over 1,000 applicaitons, to be given the opportunity to work with a great mentor, Jamie Murray-Wells who is CEO & Founder of Glassesdirect.co.uk. Jamie believed our business to be “consumer dynamite” and saw lots of parallels between what we are doing and what he has clearly succeeded in doing. Times 2 have been tracking us and this week has seen our second stage interview plus a few pics by their team.
Alexandra Blair interviewed me last Thursday, she’s a cracking journalist and has been incredibly supportive of our business. Last time she interviewed Jamie and I together, this time it was done seperately so who knows what will be said – let’s hope it’s good. In fact I know it will be good because we have come so far.
This morning Jack Hill arrived at 10am sharp to ‘take a few shots’ – 2 hours later having shot both myself and Tanya and I together, hopefully he will find that best resembles what and who we are.
Part 2 on us is due to be published within the next 7 days in Times 2 – so watch this space.

We’re frequently being asked about why we don’t hold Tiara’s in our collections. It’s funny, because the enquiry isn’t based on that person wanting a Tiara, they just are curious as to why we don’t have them.
Well…. here’s the answer!
RYR’s colleciton is all high end, high colour diamond, pearl and gemstone jewellery, we do not carry costume jewellery in our collection. The WEIGHT of a real Tiara is too much to bear.
Platinum is a very heavy & durable metal, so is gold (although not as heavy as Platinum)
Diamonds, when clustered together, are heavy too.
The combination of these two in large quantities leads to something incredibly heavy, which needs to be balanced on your head. That is why if you ever see pictures of The Royal Family wearing Tiara’s they are rarely moving their heads, let alone smiling – because they can’t. No sudden movements, and certainly no dancing!
So ladies…. there is your answer. True, they can be stunning, they are fabulously expensive, but the weight is too much to bear. Some say no pain, no gain, but here at RYR we disagree. You should LOVE wearing your diamond jewellery, not wishing for every second that you could take it off.

I’m off to an Investment Meeting in London tonight. RYR is growing quickly and having worked with my mentor Jamie Murray-Wells, CEO of Glassesdirect.com, he’s been guiding me through the process to get me to pitch standard. Here I am (still on a vertical learning curve) and my next interview with Times 2 is next week so let’s see how we get on tonight.

Here at RYR, we’re gearing up for THINK PINK, Octobers Breast Cancer Awareness Month…. we feel really strongly about supporting this as we’re all girls in the office and it’s an obvious risk to all of us. So on every piece of diamond jewellery that you rent that contains SOMETHING PINK (i.e. pink sapphires!) we’ll be donating 2% of your rental fee directly to Breast Cancer Care. This lasts for the whole of October, so come on girls, get your wardrobes planned for next month’s diary and rent yourself some pink sapphires and give something back to a really incredible cause….
